PONTIANAK - Preparations for the 25th Ministerial Meeting of BIMP-EAGA 2022 is carried out by the West Kalimantan Provincial Government. There are 38 Liaison Officers (LO) assigned to accompany each delegation during the ministerial meeting.

The Administration and General’s Assistant of Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province, Drs. Alfian Salam, M.M., sat with the Head of Executive Administrasion Bureau, Sefpri Kurniadi, S.STP. open the meeting before the West Kalimantan Government’s employees (ASN) at Balai Petitih, West Kalimantan Governor’s Office, Friday (11/11/2022).

He explained, the participants who attended received a Letter of Assignment as a Liaison Officer (LO). They are selected employees of the Regional Agencies/Bureau within the Provincial Government of West Kalimantan who are assigned to assist VIP and Governor-level guests.

In his remarks, the Administrative and General Assistant of the Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province thanked the participants who were present, for willing to become Liaison Officers (LO).

"We want you to make this as a valuable memory and experience, because you can accompany guests from 4 countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and several other guests including Ministers and Governors from several regions," said Alfian.

He also reminded them to really prepare well, considering that LO is the frontguard in facilitating the intended guests.

"We must move quickly to prepare ourselves, understand and take preparatory steps in order to optimize our duties as Liaison Officers, because one of the important roles for the success of these activities is all of you directly involved in managing as Liaison Officers,” he said.

Alfian also explained some common things in the context of being a Liaison Officer. First, coordination and communication both to the committee or protocol officers and to Guest Coordinators at Ministerial to Governor level, as well as fellow Liaison Officers (LO). Second, maintain ethics and morals in interacting with others.

"Let's do this task as well as possible, without burden and full of sincerity, responsibility and confidence. This is a rare moment. We must take and make it as a history of ASN’s life. The chance is not coming twice," said Alfian Salam.

Furthermore, he said it would be a first and the next meeting will be directed by National Protocol Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.(NM/DS)
